The business was started in the spring of 1985 when owner Ed Burke worked out of his basement and garage located in the Phillips neighborhood of Minneapolis. Ed offered garden and landscape design, installation services and on-going garden maintenance. In the year 2000, he purchased the vacant gas station on Cedar Ave that has become the Phillips Garden design studio and home base.

After extensive renovation and environmental remediation, Ed and company opened a retail nursery and coffee shop in addition to their design studio and services. Evolving further, this year, our team has decided to focus on our design and installation services. We're turning the nursery into a private garden, a showroom of sorts, and using the coffee shop for special events. We're excited about the changes we're making and hope you'll enjoy watching the process and progress!
